Sprouts and
Digestion
Sprouts are ideal for improving the digestive system as they
are rich in vitamins, minerals and live active enzymes. Poor digestion may
result in a build-up of mucus. The mucus can accumulate in the lungs causing
shortness of breath, asthma and coughs. Sprouts play a role in the breakdown of
fats, proteins and starches, enabling easier digestion.
If you do not eat sufficient alkaline-forming foods, such as
sprouts and fresh fruit and veggies, you may create an acid environment in the
stomach. This leads to a lack of oxygen, causing the cells to break down and
die. Excess acid can degrade the cell tissues and cause arthritis.
Too much acid, can cause stomach ulcers, heartburn, bloating,
bad breath, general aches and pains.
Soya
Sprouts
The small mung soya bean is the most nutritious of all the
beans. One tbsp of soya bean sprouts gives you half the vitamin C you need
daily. Combining several different kinds of sprouts, provide an abundant source
of vitamins B, C and E. minerals and amino acids.
Some sprouts are rich in nitrilosides, which are concentrated
largely in immature shoots. In cultures where foods containing nitrilosides are
eaten regularly, degenerative diseases were found by researches to be
virtually unknown.
Nitrilosides are abundant in mung beans, during the sprouting
stage.
