Molasses has gained popularity with
the start of the health food movement. Its health benefits are vast and have
been used for hundreds of years.
Dark molasses is a food which is
rich in both B vitamins and minerals
and
because of its high iron content, it helps in the treatment of anemia. It is also a good remedy for constipation.

used alone can be very effective but its benefits can be greatly increased by
combining it with other foods which are also extremely rich in B vitamins, such
as brewers’ yeast and wheat germ.
One
tablespoon of dark molasses will supply as much calcium as half a glass of
milk, this nightcap, rich in calcium and vitamin B, is excellent for a good
night sleep.
Add
1
cup warm milk
1
tsp honey
1
tablespoon molasses
1
tsp brewers’ yeast
Molasses
may also be blended on its own into cold milk as a milkshake, or into hot milk
as a coffee substitute.
It
can also be added to bread recipes, one tablespoon per loaf, or to muffins,
cakes and biscuits. The molasses makes the dough a softer consistency.
