fenugreek seeds and grind them into a powder. Mix the ground powder with warm
water. Soak a cloth into the mixture. Apply the soaked cloth directly onto the
affected skin.
Anti-cancer Agent
Research on fenugreek has shown that it may be an effective anticancer agent. In lab studies of breast, prostate and pancreatic cancer cells, fenugreek extract inhibited the growth of cancer cells but not normal cells. The compound diosgenin had been previously identified as a cytotoxic agent. However when used alone, it is not able to kill cancer cells significantly faster than normal cells. The goal of chemotherapy research is to find agents that attack cancer cells selectively.
This means that the whole
extract containing all the active components may have advantage over purified
single active constituents. These results were based on all cultures in the
laboratory and have not been verified in clinical trials on human subjects. Research
also indicates that the diosgenin in fenugreek may play an important part in
inhibiting several types of cancer.
