Molasses Cookies



















Molasses CookiesIngredients

  • 4 cups enriched flour (sifted)
  • One teaspoon salt
  • Two teaspoon baking soda
  • Two teaspoon cinnamon
  • Two teaspoon ginger
  • Half a teaspoon cloves
  • 170g butter
  • 1½ cups molasses
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 egg

         Directions
  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Sift together the flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger and cloves.
  3. Melt the butter and stir in the molasses and sugar.
  4. Beat in the egg.
  5. Gradually add flour mixture and mix well.
  6. Leave in fridge for at least half an hour.
  7. Shape into balls
  8. Place on greased baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 10 minutes or until cookies are brown.


      Brownies with Molasses

      Ingredients
  • One cup of flour
  • Six tablespoons cocoa
  • One cup sugar
  • ¼ molasses
  • ¾ nuts
  • ½ cup oil
  • One egg
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

  1.  Add the cocoa and oil to a bowl and mix well.
  2.  Mix in the sugar, molasses and vanilla. 
  3. Then add the flour, baking powder and the nuts.
  4.  Spread in greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees for half an hour.
  5.  Cut in squares and leave to cool.
